India and Egypt Explore New Opportunities to Deepen Cooperation in Engineering Goods Sector

The Embassy of India in Cairo, in association with the Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers, Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), and Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC India), organised a special webinar on Engineering Goods on 30 September 2026. The virtual programme brought together Indian and Egyptian engineering companies, industry representatives, consultants and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for expanding trade, investment and business partnerships across the engineering sector.

The webinar provided a valuable platform for Indian and Egyptian businesses to exchange views on market opportunities, showcase their capabilities and identify areas of mutual interest for greater commercial engagement. Discussions focused on the significant potential for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation in engineering goods, particularly in areas such as electrical equipment, building and construction machinery, aluminium, iron and steel, industrial products and related engineering solutions.

Addressing the webinar, Ambassador of India to Egypt Shri Suresh K. Reddy highlighted India's growing engineering capabilities and the depth and diversity of its manufacturing and technology ecosystem. He underlined the considerable opportunities available for Indian and Egyptian businesses to expand their engagement and build mutually beneficial partnerships. He encouraged companies from both countries to make greater use of existing business linkages and explore new avenues for trade, investment, technology cooperation and joint ventures.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Ghany, representing the Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers, underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the engineering communities and business sectors of the two countries. He highlighted the value of greater interaction between Indian and Egyptian companies and professionals in identifying areas where expertise, technology and commercial capabilities can complement each other.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Vimal Anand, Joint Secretary, India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry, highlighted the growing importance of the engineering sector in bilateral business and trade relations. He noted the expanding opportunities for cooperation and stressed that this is an opportune time for Indian and Egyptian businesses to deepen their engagement in the sector. He encouraged companies to move beyond traditional trade relationships and explore sustained commercial partnerships, technology collaboration and other avenues of cooperation.

Mr. Arun Garodia, Chairman, EEPC India, highlighted the substantial potential for India and Egypt to further deepen their trade and economic partnership through the engineering sector. He noted that Indian engineering companies have developed strong capabilities across a wide range of product segments and expressed confidence that closer engagement through Business Expo between industry stakeholders in the two countries could open up new opportunities for bilateral trade and business partnerships.

The webinar featured presentations and interactions with Indian companies representing a diverse range of engineering segments. Companies from electricals, building and construction machinery, aluminium, iron and steel, among other sectors, showcased their products, technologies, manufacturing capabilities and solutions to Egyptian stakeholders.

The participating Indian companies expressed keen interest in exploring the Egyptian market and establishing business relationships with Egyptian companies, distributors, importers, contractors, consultants and other industry stakeholders.

The interaction provided an opportunity for Egyptian stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of India's engineering capabilities and for Indian companies to better understand the requirements and opportunities in the Egyptian market. Participants discussed the importance of continued business-to-business engagement, market information exchange, participation in trade fairs and exhibitions, and the development of direct commercial contacts between companies.

The Embassy of India in Cairo, EEPC India, The Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers and Federation of Egyptian Industries reiterated their commitment to facilitating greater interaction between Indian and Egyptian businesses and creating platforms that enable companies to identify concrete opportunities for trade, investment, technology cooperation and long-term partnerships.
