About Us India by the Nile

The Centre organizes India By the Nile (IBN) – A festival of India in Egypt celebrated annualy in Egypt. India by the Nile brings the essence of India through classical, contemporary, performing and visual arts, food and popular culture in a language which amalgamates diverse cultural and artistic strands. The festival is produced by Delhi based M/S Teamwork Arts and supported by ICCR and the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

The 8th edition of IBN was organized from 2nd till 10th March 2020 in three cities of Egypt. It included the following:

1. Food Fiesta, an Indian Food Festival led by acclaimed Indian Chef Mr. Vikram Udayagiri, was inaugurated at Semiramis InterContinental Hotel, Cairo on 4th March 2020 and continued till 8th March 2020. The Gala Dinner hosted on 4th March was attended by more than two hundred guests and dignitaries including ambassadors, diplomats, event partners and sponsors of the festival. The Rajasthani Folk Music troupe called Kutle Khan Project also performed on the occasion.

2. Performances by  Bollywood dance troupe led by Mr. Gilles Chuyen and  Rajasthani Kutle Khan Project were organized at Port Said International School in Port Said City, Family Park in New Cairo and at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on 5th , 6th & 8th March 2020 respectively.

3. Yoga and Bollywood dance workshops were also organized at various places including the above mentioned venues as part of IBN.

The Festival was extensively covered by almost all major media houses in Egypt. IBN 2020 was attended by almost ten thousand people of various nationalities staying in Egypt.
