Yoga has been accepted as an effective practice for a healthy lifestyle across the globe. The United Nations declaration of 21st June as the International Day of Yoga has helped the people in the world to come together and celebrate and experience the happiness of this ancient practice.
The Indian embassy in collaboration with Egyptian government has been celebrating International Day of Yoga since 2015 by organizing several events in Cairo and other cities in Egypt.

For the preparation of the International Day of Yoga MACIC organized a numbers of Yoga Workshops – in different cities of Egypt. As part of Social media campaign, MACIC conducted the Yoga Photography Contest 2018. 10 best photographs were selected and awarded at the IDY event.  MACIC organized Yoga Flash mobs at iconic venues of Egypt like Pyramids, banks of the Nile River and Cairo Tower. MACIC celebrated the International Day of Yoga in three cities of Egypt.  On 21/6/18, at El-Horeya Park, Cairo, the Secretary General, Cairo Governorate and the Famous Actress Dina Abdallah attended the event as Chief Guests.  On 22/6/18, at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Major General Hisham Shady, Secretary General, Governorate of Alexandria was the Chief Guest. On 23/6/18, at El-Mawani Club, Ismailia, Staff Major General Yasseen Taher, Governor of Ismailia was the Chief Guest. A total number 1700 attended the IDY events in the three cities.
