COVID-19 : Directives of Government of Arab Republic of Egypt

Advisory

All Indian nationals in Egypt are requested to note the following measures which have been announced by Government of Egypt in view of the prevailing COVID-19 outbreak, for information and compliance:

  • Beginning 25th March 2020, for two weeks, movement on all public roads will be banned from 7:00 p.m. till 6:00 a.m. of the next day.

  • No public or private transportation will be allowed during the time when restrictions are in place (7:00 pm till 6:00 am).

  • All commercial and professional shops and shopping malls shall be closed from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and full closure shall be observed on Friday and Saturday. (This decision shall not be applicable to bakeries, pharmacies and supermarkets outside shopping malls)

  • All restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, clubs, sporting clubs etc. will be closed completely, excluding delivery services.

  • All government services will be on hold, excluding health services.

  • In case of documents being out of date during these two weeks, police have been advised to treat them as valid.

  • Schools and universities will be closed for an additional two weeks on top of the initial decision, which was set to end on the 29th of March.

  • Tough penalties shall be applied by Egyptian authorities on those found in violation of these decisions. The police have the right to arrest anyone who doesn’t comply with these decisions on sight.
