85th Edition of Know India Programme

About Know India Programme (KIP)

KIP is an engagement programme designed for Diaspora youth of Indian origin between 21–35 years, aimed at strengthening their connect with India and providing them with first-hand exposure to various facets of the country’s heritage, governance, and progress. The programme is open to Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can’t apply for the Programme.

85th EDITION OF KNOW INDIA PROGRAMME

The 85th KIP has been designated a Special Edition. In partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, selected KIP participants will also take part in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD), scheduled alongside the National Youth Festival on 12 January 2026.

The VBYLD aims to empower young leaders from India and the diaspora by encouraging ideation, leadership, and innovation. Through its Viksit Bharat Challenge Track, participants will collaborate on ten thematic areas linked to India’s national priorities, including governance, education, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

The Challenge includes four progressive stages:

  1. Online Quiz
  2. Essay Competition
  3. Presentations and Leadership Assessments
  4. National Championship, where finalists will present their ideas to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

Selected participants of KIP-85 may have the privilege of presenting their ideas on this national platform.

Programme Components

  1. Orientation Presentations:
    Sessions on India’s polity, economy, history, culture, and contemporary developments.

  2. Visits to Key Democratic Institutions:
    Parliament of India, Election Commission of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and interactions with high dignitaries.

  3. Showcasing India’s Sectoral Achievements:
    Science & Technology, IT, Pharmaceuticals, Infrastructure, Startup ecosystem, Digital Public Infrastructure, India Stack, JAM Trinity, Education, Defence, Agriculture, Tourism.

  4. Cultural and Heritage Exposure:
    Visits to sites of historic and civilizational importance; introduction to Yoga, Ayurveda, classical music and dance.

  5. Insight into Flagship Government Initiatives:
    Skill India, Digital India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Startup India.

  6. Industry Visits:
    Public and private enterprises showcasing India’s capabilities in manufacturing and services.

  7. Academic Immersion:
    Engagements with faculty and students at reputed universities/institutions.

  8. Visits to Research and Scientific Establishments

  9. Indian Media and Broadcasting Exposure

  10. State Visits:
    Travel to one or two States to experience India’s cultural diversity.









Eligibility

  • Age 21-35, PIO youth only; NRIs not eligible.
  • Proof of Indian origin via OCI/PIO card of self/parents/grandparents; in its absence, an undertaking attested by DCM/DCG/HOM/HOP.
  • Must hold a graduation degree; those still pursuing graduation are not eligible.
  • Must have proficiency in English.
  • Preference to first-time visitors to India.
  • Should not have participated in earlier KIP editions or other GOI-funded programmes.




Arrangements

  • MEA provides local hospitality - boarding, lodging (budget hotels), internal transport - for the programme duration.
  • Missions arrange return air tickets after collecting 10% of the airfare from participants.
  • Gratis visa is issued to selected participants.
  • Participants arriving early or staying beyond programme dates must self-arrange.

Documents Required from Candidates

  • Valid international travel & medical insurance for the entire duration in India.
  • Medical fitness certificate confirming ability to undertake long-distance travel and the programme schedule.
