8th International Day of Yoga in Egypt

Posted on: June 07, 2022 | Back | Print

Yoga is part of India’s intangible cultural heritage, which has emerged as a global brand and is now being practiced internationally, including Egypt. It offers a healthy lifestyle harmonizing body, mind and spirit and promotes a holistic approach towards health and well-being. Yoga is not only for health and well-being but also promotes peace and harmony as well as progress and brotherhood. With these broader objectives in mind, 21st June is celebrated as the International Day of Yoga after the adoption of the Resolution proposed by India and co-sponsored by 177 nations, including Egypt, at the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.

In this connection, the Embassy of India in Cairo, Egypt and the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture are organizing the 8th International Day of Yoga at Al Azhar Park, Cairo on 21 June, 2022 at 7:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, in the run up to the 8th International Day of Yoga 2022, the Embassy of India in Cairo, will organize curtain raisers in Alexandria at Bibliotheca Alexandrina on the 12th of June 2022, in Sharm El Sheikh at Sharm El Sheikh Museum on the 14th June 2022 and in Luxor at Karnak Temple on the 19th of June 2022
