PRESS RELEASE
The Embassy of India in Cairo, Egypt jointly with MY Bharat, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, successfully organised the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 on Friday, 26 September 2025. Held across over 150 international locations, the event became a truly global celebration of service, fitness, and sustainability. The run in Cairo drew enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora, local communities, running clubs, students, professionals, and friends of India.
The run was held as part of Seva Pakhwada (17 September - 2 October), and reflected the transformative progress India has achieved in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, technology, education, and sustainability. The community in Cairo reaffirmed its commitment to the Prime Minister’s vision of Developed India @2047, a developed India, by joining the run.
Under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation,” participants from Cairo came together for community runs of 4 kilometres, turning the event into a powerful statement of collectiveness. It also highlighted the collective call for self-reliance, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility. The turnout was remarkable, with 650+ runners, hundreds of volunteers, and community organisations joining hands to make the event a grand success.
A key moment of the event was the collective recitation of the Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledge, where the Indian participants committed to contributing towards India’s journey of becoming a developed nation by 2047. In addition, the “A Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign was embraced by the community in Cairo, where plantable, biodegradable seed armbands were distributed to runners. This act served as a living reminder of India’s commitment to building a greener planet. The celebrations also featured a vibrant cultural segment showcasing India’s rich artistic heritage including graceful Kathak performances and spirited Bollywood dances, offering a glimpse into India’s civilizational values and creative traditions.
The Viksit Bharat Run became a platform for diaspora engagement and youth mobilisation, with Indian embassies partnering with community groups, cultural bodies, and local organisations worldwide. It reinforced the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - “the world is one family.” It carried a strong message of unity, resilience, and shared responsibility, while also showcasing India’s cultural and developmental strides. Together, let us continue the journey towards a Viksit Bharat - a developed, self-reliant India rooted in service and global leadership.
