Commencement of 29th edition of the  “Glimpses of India” Painting Competition 2025

The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), under the Embassy of India in Cairo, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, Arab Republic of Egypt, is pleased to announce the 29th edition of the “Glimpses of India” Painting Competition 2025 for Egyptian school children.

This year’s competition will be held across 23 Governorates of Egypt—including Cairo, Giza, Qalioubiya, Gharbiya, Sharqiya, Red Sea, Alexandria, Menoufiya, Bani Suef, Fayoum, Kafr Elsheikh, Beheira, Port Said, Ismailia, Assiut, New Valley, Suez, Damietta, Marsa Matruh, South Sinai, Aswan, Luxor, and Minya—from 2 November to 27 November 2024.

Organized annually in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the “Glimpses of India” Painting Competition has become a much-awaited cultural event among Egyptian school children. It serves as a unique platform to foster creativity and deepen understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage among the youth of Egypt.

Since its inception in 1994, the competition has grown into an enduring symbol of friendship and cultural exchange between India and Egypt, nurturing stronger people-to-people ties between the two ancient civilizations. Over the past 28 years, thousands of Egyptian students have participated, expressing through their art their perception of India’s diversity, traditions, and values.

The inaugural painting competition for school children from Cairo and Giza Governorates will be held in Cairo on 2nd November. The event will be graced by the Minister of State for Education of India, who will represent India on behalf of the Prime Minister of India to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

After the conclusion of the competition, a Prize Distribution Ceremony will be organized by the Embassy of India, Cairo, to honor the winners from various Governorates. An independent three-member jury will evaluate the artworks and select winners in different categories.

The Embassy of India and MACIC take pride in continuing this long-standing tradition that celebrates creativity, cross-cultural understanding, and the enduring friendship between India and Egypt.
