Press Release for Interaction event with Egyptian Businessmen
Tapping on immense India – Egypt Bilateral Trade potential: Embassy of India in Cairo hosts Egyptian Business Leaders for an Interaction
The Embassy of India in Cairo highlighted the immense potential to expand bilateral trade and investment between India and Egypt, during an interactive session with leading Egyptian businessmen – including members of the Egyptian Junior Businessman Association (EJB). The participants of this interaction showed their interest and optimism about rapidly expanding India – Egypt bilateral trade opportunities.
Ambassador Suresh Reddy emphasized on the fact that Egypt is a welcoming business destination for a large number of companies from India and the world. Indian companies are rapidly expanding their footprints in Egypt and India is looking forward to do more business with Egypt in future. He also noted that while bilateral trade is already strong, significant potential remain in exporting from Egypt to India in sectors like agriculture, fertilizers, chemicals and textile. India’s fast-growing economy – the fourth-largest in the world with a GDP exceeding $ 4.3 trillion and an annual growth rate of around 7% – offers an increasingly attractive market for Egyptian exports.
Mr. Mohamed Abu Basha (Chairman EJB), Mr. Mohamed Saleh (Secretary General, EJB) and Mr. Ahmed Nafei (Treasurer, EJB) in their remarks stressed on the importance of direct engagement in building trust and accelerating cooperation. As a tangible outcome, they proposed to organize business missions to India to showcase Egypt’s investment and trade potential, meet prospective partners and to establish lasting partnerships.
The discussion also explored expanding joint ventures, technology transfer in ICT, SaaS, fintech, and Agri-tech, and collaboration with India’s booming startup ecosystem – the third-largest globally with over 159,000 registered startups and more than 120 unicorns. These sectors offer promising pathways for Egyptian businesses to access innovation, scale solutions, and tap into new markets.
The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating stronger B2B linkages, trade delegations, and sector-focused partnerships, ensuring that commercial ties between the two countries grow in both volume and diversity.
