Visit of High Level Multi-Party Parliamentary Delegation to Egypt
[2–4 June 2025]
A High Level multi-Party Parliamentary Delegation from India is on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from 2–4 June 2025, to convey India’s firm and principled position against terrorism and to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral engagements with Egypt, the League of Arab States, and other key stakeholders.
The delegation is led by Ms. Supriya Sule, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Working President of the Nationalist Congress Party. Other members of the delegation include:
1. Shri Anurag Thakur, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Bharatiya Janata Party
2. Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Bharatiya Janata Party
3. Shri Anand Sharma, Former Union Minister, Indian National Congress
4. Shri Manish Tewari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Indian National Congress
5. Shri Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Telugu Desam Party
6. Shri V. Muraleedharan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Bharatiya Janata Party
7. Shri Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Aam Aadmi Party
8. Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations
The delegation will hold meetings with senior members of the Egyptian Senate, the House of Representatives, and engage in dialogue with the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA). They are also scheduled to meet with H.E. Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt. The delegation would also call on H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
The programme includes a floral tribute at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at El-Horreya Park, a visit to the Heliopolis War Memorial, and interactions with members of the Indian community and Egyptian opinion makers, including senior editors, scholars, and strategic thinkers. The visit reflects India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt and the Arab world in combating terrorism and advancing shared global values.
