Indian Cultural Festival Organized in Assiut on 5–6 August

The Embassy of India in Cairo, in collaboration with the Assiut Governorate, successfully hosted the Indian Cultural Festival in Assiut on 5–6 August 2025, showcasing a vibrant blend of Indian and Egyptian traditions.

The two-day festival was inaugurated by H.E. Hesham Aboul Nasr, Governor of Assiut, and H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to Egypt. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from the local community, creating a lively atmosphere of cultural exchange.

Audiences were treated to captivating Indian performances including Kathak, Bollywood dance, Garba, a Yoga flash mob, and the Incredible India exhibition, highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage and tourism potential. Adding to the spirit of cultural fusion, Egyptian folk performances such as the mesmerizing Tanoura and traditional stick dance delighted the crowd.

As part of the festivities, two acclaimed Indian films, RRR and Goodbye, were screened to packed cinema halls, offering audiences an authentic Bollywood experience. The screenings received overwhelming appreciation, further strengthening the warm cultural ties between India and Egypt.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Suresh K. Reddy expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Assiut and the local community for their support in making the festival a success, emphasizing the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering friendship and mutual understanding between nations.

The Indian Cultural Festival in Assiut stands as a testament to the shared love for art, music, dance, and cinema, and marks another milestone in the deep-rooted cultural partnership between India and Egypt.
